Eat Your Veg

How many times have you heard that?

It started when you were a kid.

“You’re not leaving the table until you’ve eaten all your greens!”

But even now you’re all grown up, you still read it in the paper, see it on the tv, in the supermarket.

It’s safe to say that it’s a gold standard piece of scientific fact that eating veg is good for you.

Ok, blah, blah, blah, not another article on how veg is going to make me healthy again. Well no, we are going to talk about a much more ‘here and now’ benefit.

** Weight loss **

Not only do veggies benefit you by delivering lots of vitamins and minerals, they also help you to low weight.

Now, we’re not talking about eating bows and bowls of the stuff, but adding t each meal is going to have the following positive effect on your weight loss goals.

1) Veg is high in fibre (especially root veg) this aids digestion, meaning that your system is more efficient leading to improved gut health and a smoother transit of digested food. This means the Christmas bloated look you had will begin to disappear.

2) The high fibre content also means that is hard of eat a lot of them. Ever tried eating a bowl of raw carrots, or a bowl of broccoli?
It’s tough, you get half way through and you can’t fit anymore in. So think about It, the more veg in your diet the less calories you can eat = weight loss

3) veg is full of water. Water = increased hydration. Hydration = improved system efficiency which can lead to increased potential calorie burn throughout the day and during exercise.

There you have it.
