Now that’s a headline that will grab a lot of peoples attention. Are we going to go ahead and spout off about the newest fad, the newest supplement or some kind of face massaging gizmo!? Well, no, that’s not really our thing. We want to talk about something a little more proven, a little more well-known that will help you to Slow Down the Ageing Process…

Using Antioxidants to Slow Down Ageing Process

Now there are a few theories on ageing, but one that is well accepted is the concept of oxidation. If you imagine taking an apple and cutting it in half, then leaving it on the side, what happens? It turns brown.

This is the process of oxidation, the cells are turning brown due to oxidative damage to the molecules of the Apple.

What is Oxidation?

Oxidation is the loss of electrons during a reaction by a molecule, atom or ion. Oxidation occurs when the oxidation state of a molecule, atom or ion is increased. The opposite process is called reduction, which occurs when there is a gain of electrons or the oxidation state of an atom, molecule, or ion decreases. Source: thoughtco.com

What is an Antioxidant

Now take the same process but this time squeeze fresh lemon on to the apple. What happens? The lemon protects the apples cells from damage and it stays fresh. This is due to the antioxidant contained within the lemon.

See where are we going with this?
